Crakk Trailer Review: Vidyut Jammwal-Nora Fatehi's actioner serves old wine in a new bottle

Vidyut Jammwal has created a niche for himself in the action genre. After working in the film industry for several years, he took a leap and started his own production house, named Action Hero Films. Under the banner, Vidyut is producing a high-octane action drama, titled Crakk: Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa. Headlined by Vidyut, Arjun Rampal, Nora Fatehi, Amy Jackson and Ankit Mohan, the Aditya Datt directorial releases on February 23.

The trailer of Crakk was launched today. Amid low buzz, the makers of the film dropped in a glimpse to increase the audience's appetite. Did it manage to do so? The action-heavy Crakk trailer offered a sneak peek into the story of two men (Vidyut and Ankit). The revenge saga begins when Ankit dies in the 'Maidaan' which is supposedly ruled by Arjun Rampal. Nora Fatehi plays Arjun's ladylove whereas Amy Jackson seems to play an officer.

Crakk's trailer leaves you confused on various levels. What's 'Maidaan'? What is unique about the plot? Why is there no character graph for Amy and Nora? Most importantly, "Why does every Vidyut Jammwal film look similar?" Aditya Datt, who directed Vidyut in Commando 3, still appears to be stuck in the previous project's hangover. Mindless and physics-defying action over a strong storyline. The actor clearly needs a big breakthrough to move away from the shadow of box office flops that came with films like IB71, Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 – Agni Pariksha, Commando 3 and Junglee to name a few.

Crakk is a revenge saga loaded with action. Sadly, the sequences don't excite as many of them were done in the past and people have lost appetite for stale tales. Vidyut tries hard to bring in humour and infuse his dialect with tapori slang flavours. It comes across as a forced attempt. He's clearly not comfortable. The funny dialogues are chuckle-worthy if not completely cringe. Vidyut's character says in the end, "Apne yahan bhi Singham, Simmba, Sooryavanshi sab saathe mein aate hain." Was this needed?

Arjun Rampal seems misfit, at least in the trailer. He's a rare actor and should be preserved carefully; Crakk might not do justice to his screen presence. Nora Fatehi looks stunning, but we would really love to see her act. Amy Jackson has some action stunts and only time shall tell if women save the grace in Crakk.
