The people who have taken the money are not employees of CBFC: Ashoke Pandit on Tamil actor Vishal’s allegations against censor board

Vishal’s name has recently been all over the headlines after his allegations on CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification). The Tamil actor and producer recently shared that the members of CBFC  demanded a bribe of Rs 6.5 lakhs Hindi censor rights of his latest film Mark Antony.

Following the same, one of the ex-members of the board, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit responded to the claims. He said that it’s not possible for the employees to demand money and the people who have asked for it must have been frauds imposing themselves as the members of CBFC.

Ashoke said, “On behalf of IFTDA, we are writing a letter to Prasoon Joshi and demanding a CBI inquiry on these charges. The people who have taken the money are not employees of CBFC, so whoever the money was given to, has to be investigated.”

The issue started after Vishal decided to go for the Hindi-dubbed version of his Tamil film Mark Antony which has been doing fantastic business at the box office. As he approached the board for the same, he was asked for the amount of Rs 6.5 lakhs. Following the same he took to his Twitter and accused Mumbai’s CBFC for the same. Sharing a post, he wrote, "#Corruption being shown on the silver screen is fine. But not in real life. Cant digest. Especially in govt offices. And even worse is happening in #CBFC Mumbai office. Had to pay 6.5 lacs for my film #MarkAntonyHindi version. 2 transactions. 3 Lakhs for screening and 3.5 Lakhs for certificate. Never faced this situation ever in my career (sic)."
