In a recent exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, the actress went on to share some insights about her professional and personal life in a fun Q&A session.

Check it out:

Question 1) Pageants, Music Video to Films - you have been a part of showbiz for more than a decade. Do you think the industry has given you its due?

I feel the industry has given me my due and is still does that. I am not the kind of person who came to the industry with set goals and plans. So, the industry has given me more than what I expected and I am happy being where I am. Yet, I am still hungry for more. The industry gives you your due but it always gives you an appetite. The more work you do, you wanna do more and better post that. So, it’s an interesting mix.

Question 2) If you look back at your journey, would you change anything in the trajectory?

No, I wouldn’t change anything. I love every bit of my journey. It has shaped me into the kind of artist and person I am today. So, I would absolutely not change anything.

Question 3) How you deal with rejections and challenges as a performing artist - they tend to be sentive than most.

I don’t revolve my life around rejections. I tend to move on from them quite fast. Earlier, I used to get affected from them because I was new to them. I would take them personally and make them about me or my talent somehow. I would wonder where do I lack. But over time, I realised that rejections in our industry have nothing to do with my talent and me. A lot of things play a factor. Your skill is not a part of that. Sometimes it is the circumstances, sometimes the character, the timing and so many other things. So, now I sort of don’t give them any importance. Whenever I go for readings, narrations or tests, I do them and then move on to the next. If it’s meant to be, it comes otherwise I keep myself busy working and living my life. I try and stay away from the negative feeling because once you go spiralling down that path, it’s a very dark hole.

Question 4) You are into fitness, yoga. Does it help you to be a better person or better artist in any ways?

Absolutely. Yoga helps me shape everything. It helps me shape the kind of person I am, the kind of actor I am. In fact, on the technical level, yoga is very important for every actor because you work with your breath. One of the most well-known theatre acting courses that I did at Adishakti, there was a yoga class, a breathing class where they would tell us which chakra to work with, with what emotion, how to emote. So, that is the technical aspect of it and it helps. But I feel that by practicing yoga, your entire being comes to a centre. When you are centred you can emote and perform much better. You are more focused and it completely alters the way you are, the way you think, the way you breathe and you can use it in your craft.

Question 5) You recently tied the knot. In fact, your photoshoots, later, with sindoor and maganlsutra were quite catchy. Any thoughts on it? Has marriage changed your outlook towards life and career?

I am a person who embraces the phase of life I am in. If I have chosen to get married, I am embracing it full-heartedly and everything that comes along with it. I am an extremely traditional girl, so for me, my sindoor, mangalsutra or chooda, everything has a meaning and value. So, I like to adorn it from time to time.

As for my outlook towards life, the major difference is that you feel and become more responsible for the families involved as well. It’s not just about the person you are married to. The families also become your responsibility. It’s like from 2 small families, you become one big family. I love that and its fabulous being married. I highly recommend it.

Question 6) What are you working on currently? And what are you seeking in future, as an artist? What's the end goal?

As an artist, the release is never the end goal. As a performer, you are always craving for more, you are always hungry for more. So, I don’t have an end goal. I do have wish lists, the kind of projects I want to do and I have been vocal about them in the past. Having said that, I like to go with the flow and see where life takes me. That holds true for my work as well. I never like to compartmentalise or stereotype myself that I want to do only these types of roles. Majorly my end goal is to be a versatile actor. I feel that I just need a platform to showcase that.

I just completed shooting for a few projects. Out of which, I have about 4-5 releases this year. I have a couple of films and one OTT show. They are all very different and 3 of those films are with Jio, one of whom has already released. It came immediately after my wedding, Aseq. It was thriller-horror genre. Now, I have a few comedies, one romcom and one very interesting show on social media. So, it’s an interesting year.

Question 7) If you could go back in time and alter one thing in your career, what would it be and why?

Nothing really except the fact that in the beginning of my career, I should have been more assertive and forthcoming in reaching out to people and filmmakers and telling them that I wanted to work with them and what kind of work I wanted to do. That’s the only thing as I would never pick up the phone and message or call a director for work. That’s something I wish I had done a lot more.

Question 8) A role which you wish was offered to you or a role you would love to do in your career?

I wish I had done Gone Girl. Rosamund Pike did a wonderful job and I was so inspired by it. But I wish I had done it or a film like that. I would love to do a film like that.
