Samrat Prithviraj: Akshay Kumar performs Ganga Aarti with Manushi Chhillar, takes a dip in the Holy river

Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar’s historical drama Samrat Prithviraj will be releasing in theatres on June 3 amid much fanfare. Directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film is produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films. Ahead of the big day, Akshay, Manushi and Dr Dwivedi travelled to Varanasi and performed Ganga aarti. 

Akshay and Manushi twinned in pastel pink outfits. After offering prayers, the superstar took a dip in the Holy Ganga river. Akshay shared a picture from his Varanasi visit and wrote, "Har Har Mahadev (sic)" Manushi also uploaded some pictures.

Akshay and Manushi will be visiting the Somnath Temple in Gujarat with Dr Dwivedi. The director said in a statement, "Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan gave his life fighting for Bharatmata’s freedom. He defended India against Mohammad of Ghor, the merciless invader who wanted to plunder our country. Our film chronicles Samrat Prithviraj’s life and his contribution to our nation’s history. We have now sought blessings by performing the Ganga puja in Varanasi with his flag. We are now heading to the Somnath Temple with the holy water of Ganga to perform another puja with Samrat Prithviraj’s flag there."

Samrat Prithviraj will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
