Dhanush calls Sonam Kapoor Ahuja 'better actor to work with', Atrangi Re co-star Sara Ali Khan reacts

National Award winner Dhanush made his Bollywood debut in Aanand L. Rai's Raanjhanaa (2013) opposite Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Abhay Deol. The film was appreciated by the critics as well as the audience, who wanted to see the South star frequently in Hindi cinema. Now, Dhanush, a pan-India superstar, is gearing up for the release of his third Bollywood film titled Atrangi Re. He has reunited with Aanand for the project.

Ahead of Atrangi Re's premiere on Disney+ Hotstar, Dhanush appeared on Karan Johar's special segment Koffee Shots With Karan with his co-star Sara Ali Khan. During the rapid-fire round, host Karan asked Dhanush who he felt was a better actor to work with; his options were Sara and Sonam. The actor chose Sonam. Sara reacted to this and said, "Wow, not offensive at all. I'm losing my hamper, I am losing my..."

Dhanush went on to explain why Sonam will be special to him. "Not taking away the kindness, sweetness, fun (that) Sara (brought) on the sets of Atrangi Re, Sonam because she was very special, she was my first co-star in Hindi films and a guy from the south coming here, and she made me feel very comfortable and very kind to me. I am very grateful for that," Dhanush added.

On Koffee Shots With Karan, Dhanush also told that he wasn't sure about Sara's casting in Atrangi Re considering she is just a few films old. "To be very honest, I was a little worried. It’s such a big role and a very difficult character to play. I asked Aanand ji, ‘How many films has she done?’ He told me 2 or 3 films, at that point of time. I was like, ‘Can she pull it off?’," Dhanush shared. He added that director Aanand was confident and believed in Sara's talent. "Aanand ji kept telling me, "‘There is something I need and I see it in her.’ And he does. I don’t know how he cracks that. For some reason, out of nowhere, he brought me here to do Raanjhanaa. He had the conviction that this is my actor for the film. So, he must have seen something in her," he revealed.

Atrangi Re, co-starring Akshay Kumar, will release on December 24.
