Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush were Karan Johar's guests on Koffee Shots With Karan. They were promoting their upcoming film Atrangi Re on the special segment that is currently streaming on Disney + Hotstar's YouTube channel. During their appearance, Sara and Dhanush spoke about Atrangi Re, which also stars Akshay Kumar in a pivotal role.
Dhanush, who plays the role of Vishu in the Aanand L. Rai-directorial, told host Karan that he was not sure whether Sara, a relatively new actress, could pull off a character like Rinku in the film. "To be very honest, I was a little worried. It’s such a big role and a very difficult character to play. I asked Aanand ji, ‘How many films has she done?’ He told me 2 or 3 films, at that point of time. I was like, ‘Can she pull it off?’," Dhanush told.
He further added that Aanand had full faith in Sara and saw something special in her. "Aanand ji kept telling me, "‘There is something I need and I see it in her.’ And he does. I don’t know how he cracks that. For some reason, out of nowhere, he brought me here to do Raanjhanaa. He had the conviction that this is my actor for the film. So, he must have seen something in her," Dhanush shared.
The National Award-winning actor praised Sara for being earnest and doing justice to Rinku.
Atrangi Re releases on December 24 on Disney + Hotstar.
