Veteran actress Saira Banu not battling depression, confirms doctor; actress to be discharged in a day or two

Veteran actress Saira Banu was admitted to Hinduja Hospital a few days ago after she complained of blood pressure-related issues. She was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on September 1. Recently, certain reports claimed that the actress has slipped into depression after her husband, actor Dilip Kumar's death on July 7. It was being said that Saira Banu has been diagnosed with a heart problem and doctors at Hinduja Hospital have advised her to undergo an angiogram procedure. Reports stated that she refused to undergo any treatment.

Now, putting an end to all speculations, Dr. Nitin Gokhale, a cardiologist, told a leading daily that Saira Banu is neither battling depression nor being difficult. "Sairaji is not battling depression, plus she is not being difficult at all which in other words means she is not avoiding angiography. The angiography as I told you last time will be done at a later date after we control her diabetes. So where's the question of she saying 'no' to it?" the doctor told.

On the other hand, a source from the hospital told a media agency that Saira Banu has been shifted out of the ICU and will be discharged in a few days. "She was shifted out of the ICU. She has been mobilised and is fine. May probably get discharged in a day or two, if there are no further issues," the source said.
