Virat Kohli reveals the meaning of his daughter Vamika’s name in AMA session, clarifies that no pictures of his and Anushka’s child will be shared

Virat Kohli made his fans’ day today when he chose to do an Ask Me Anything session on Instagram. During the interaction he revealed the meaning of his daughter Vamika’s name. Virat had welcomed a baby girl with wife Anushka Sharma this year in January and had announced the baby girl’s name on social media but refrained from showing her face. During the session he also responded to a request to share a picture of the little one online.

A fan asked Virat, “What is the meaning of Vamika? How is she? Can we see a glimpse of her please?” The cricketer replied, “Vamika is another name for goddess Durga. No, we have decided as a couple to not expose our child to social media before she has an understanding of what social media is and can make her own choice.”

Virat and Anushka, shortly after Vamika’s birth in January had sent personalized hampers to paparazzi requesting them not to click pictures of their daughter and create media frenzy. They had written, “Hi, Thank you for all the love that you have given us for all these years. We are happy to celebrate this momentous occasion with you. As parents, we have a simple request to make to you. We want to protect the privacy of our child and we need your help and support. While we will always ensure that you get all the content you need featuring us, we would request you to kindly not take or carry any content that has our child. We know that you will understand where we are coming from and we thank you for the same.”

Even though the two have uploaded a few pictures with their munchkin, they have always avoided showing Vamika’s face.
