International Democracy Day 2020: Taapsee Pannu proves asking questions for betterment of your country isn't 'anti-national’ through her poem 'Samwaad'

On the occasion of International Democracy Day 2020, Taapsee Pannu narrated a hard-hitting poem along with an animated video. The actress, who formerly penned a poem on the plight of migrant workers amid the pandemic, made scathing remarks on how the country as a whole lacks constructive dialogue and is bent towards caste and religion divide. Through the powerful poem titled Samwaad, Taapsee highlighted the importance of freedom of speech and raising questions for the betterment of a democratic nation.

The video shared by Taapsee begins with an animated clip of a girl lighting a candle in front of the India Gate. In the next frame, the scientific progress in India is shown and the issue of superstition, belief in fake news and rumours is highlighted. Samwaad further questions that when the Constitution has listed it down that we all are equals, then why are we divided on basis of caste and religion? Reminding that 'Vasudaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is a family) is what was taught to one and all, then why isn't it being implemented? Samwaad beautifully highlights that we have to preserve our rights and perform our duties.
