COVID-19: Alia Bhatt appeals to not abandon or euthanize their pets amid the Coronavirus outbreak

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic in the world several myths and rumours have been propagated. Some rumours that are doing the rounds are that garlic wards off Coronavirus to others more gruesome ones where they alleged that animals are carriers making many people abandon their pets. People are resorting to even euthanizing their pets thinking that the animals could be potential carriers of the Coronavirus.

Now, Alia Bhatt has appealed to the people to not resort to such gruesome actions based on these baseless rumours. She shared a statement on social media wherein she wrote, “Since the outbreak of COVID-19 news has been rampant of people abandoning their pets as was as killing or euthanizing animals for fear of catching the virus from them. There is currently NO EVIDENCE to suggest that pet animals can be a source of infection to humans. Maharashtra’s Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that there is no case in the world of domesticated animals spreading Coronavirus and people SHOULD NOT ABANDON THEIR PETS for fear of infection.”

She further added “Keep your animals. Love them. Care for them. With everything going on in the world around us we could all do with some extra love from our furry faced companions.”

We hope everyone takes heed to Alia’s wise words and share some much-needed quality time with their pets, after all this self-isolation and self-quarantine has some perks too like catching up with immediate family, pets and find your inner self.
