Akshay Kumar is a bona fide superstar. With multiple releases each year, the actor delivers not just highly entertaining films but blockbusters too. Similarly, on November 10 last year, Akshay announced yet another project of his titled Bell Bottom. Needless to say, the news sent the fans into a zone of excitement. Inspired by true events, Bell Bottom is touted to be a very high-end espionage thriller. Soon after the film was announced, speculations surrounding the leading actress opposite Akshay did the rounds. With names of Kriti Sanon's younger sister Nupur Sanon's and Mrunal Thakur's surfacing, people were curious to know who is the lucky lady. Now, ending all the rumours, it has been confirmed that Vaani Kapoor has been finalised as Akshay's wife in Bell Bottom. A source close to the development informed a leading daily that the script required a fresh pairing and Vaani was indeed excited to shoot with the Good Newwz star. The War actress, in the espionage thriller, will be integral to the narrative.
“The script demanded a fresh pairing, Vaani was signed on a week ago and is excited for the shoot with Akshay. It’s not the usual female lead, a few romantic scenes and some songs. She plays Akshay’s wife and is integral to the narrative,” the source close to the development informed.

The source further added that look tests are scheduled to take place when the film is ready to go on floors. For Akshay's character of a secret spy, the makers are decoding a classic look for him by taking into consideration oversized coats, glares, designer shoes, a unique hairstyle and hairstyle. In addition to this, the source told that the recce will begin after Coronavirus restrictions are lifted. But before that, the team is working to recreate the 80s decade with set designers and VFX specialists.
“Recce will start once the travel restrictions following the coronavirus outbreak are relaxed. The team is presently working towards recreating the 80’s decade with set designers and a visual effects team,” the source added.
Bell Bottom, directed by Ranjit M Tewari, is produced by Pooja Entertainment in association with Enmmay Entertainment. The film is expected to go on floors by September this year after Akshay wraps the shoot of Bachchan Pandey. The story is written by Aseem Arora and Pervez Shaikh. Bell Bottom will release on April 2, 2021.
