'The Immortal Ashwatthama will be a trilogy, attempt to achieve what Marvel has done globally,' says Aditya Dhar on the Vicky Kaushal starrer action-thriller

After delivering a National Award-winning film in 2019 titled Uri: The Surgical Strike, Aditya Dhar and Vicky Kaushal are reuniting with a yet another adrenaline-pumping thriller- The Immortal Ashwatthama. Based on the adventures and lesser-spoken tale of mythological character Ashwatthama who appeared in the epic Mahabharat, the film will see Vicky in a different form. While the project is still in its pre-production stage, the hype, for sure, is real. Talking about his second directorial, Aditya, who turned 37 today, spoke to a leading daily and revealed some details about The Immortal Ashwatthama. Aditya informed that it is planned to become a trilogy. However, he will first monitor the success of the first part and then begin working on the other two.

"We are planning to make it in three parts. For now, we are concentrating on the first part because making that is such a huge task. If we perfect that, the second and third editions will be made," Aditya told.

Speaking of the character, the noted filmmaker said that Ashwatthama's flaws and arrogance made him more human than other characters in Mahabharat. Adding further, Aditya mentioned that the team is not in a mood to compromise on the budget as their goal is to achieve the level Marvel Studios has globally. "As a character, Ashwatthama was flawed. He was arrogant, egoistic and temperamental. That made him more human than every other character in the epic. We don't want to compromise on the scale. We want to make a superhero film and hopefully, achieve what Marvel is doing globally," Aditya added.

Moving to Vicky, Aditya stated that the actor will undergo a major physical transformation and is required to weigh close to 115 kgs. Apart from that, he will learn various forms of martial arts, sword fighting and archery. "Vicky will need to gain weight, he has to weigh close to 115 kilos for the part. Besides his physical transformation, he will have to pick up various martial arts, sword fighting, and archery. Luckily, he is learning horse-riding for Takht, so that will come handy in our film," Aditya concluded.

The Immortal Ashwatthama is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under his banner RSVP Movies.
