Imtiaz Ali's films always revolves around love, the strongest human emotion. His next film stars Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan and it titled Love Aaj Kal. The story of his 2009 release of the same name, starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, shuffled between two time zones. The newer version is similar, with Kartik and Sara essaying presentday lovers. The film also stars Randeep Hooda and Arushi Sharma in pivotal roles.
While everyone was excited after the film was announced, it took the makers a good time to finalise the title before finally setlling with Love Aaj Kal. At some point, the film was touted to be named Aaj Kal. When Imtiaz was asked about it during an interview, the filmmaker said, “We didn’t want to confuse people. But, at the same time, I knew I had to tell the audience that it was the same concept as the original. Otherwise they would have felt cheated after watching the film. I didn’t care for Love Aaj Kal Reboot and was against a Part 2 appendage as that signifies an extension of the original story and people would expect the old characters to return. Finally, we bought the rights and settled on Love Aaj Kal." He further quipped, “God is one but has many names,” adding that he does not mind people calling it Kartik's and Sara’s Love Aaj Kal or Love Aaj Kal 2020.
Well, like everyone, we also hope to see a fresh story with Sara and Kartik lighting up the screen with their presence.
Love Aaj Kal opens on Valentine's Day.
