Mahie Gill roped in to play a cop in horror-thriller 'Durgavati' featuring Bhumi Pednekar?

Actress Bhumi Pednekar will soon be entering the scary-thriller zone with her next Durgavati, which will be presented by Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. The film will be directed by South filmmaker G Ashok. The news was announced in November with an image where Bhumi is holding placard of hero, Akshay and Bhushan Kumar of being presenters, along with director and producers. The actress reportedly plays an IAS officer in the film.

Now according to a report in a leading daily, Mahie Gill has been roped in to play the pivotal role of a cop working on a case involving Bhumi’s character. “Mahie agreed to be a part of the film earlier this month and has begun her preliminary prep. She and G Ashok have had several meetings to discuss the look,” a source revealed to the daily.

Reportedly, the film is expected to go on the floors on January 23 in Madhya Pradesh and will be shot at real locations, including heritage buildings like Moti Mahal, Sadar Manzil and a nearby municipal school, Oriental Institute of Science & Technology, Bhopal’s Old Central Jail, Minto Hall, Poha Bhata village, among others. Mahie will apparently join the cast and crew a few days after Bhumi starts shooting.

For the unversed, Durgavati is the official Hindi adaptation of the Anushka Shetty-starrer 2018 Telugu horror film, Bhaagamathie, which revolved around a woman imprisoned in a haunted house while being interrogated in a corruption case involving a politician.

Work wise, Bhumi had a good last year. She was seen in critically acclaimed Saand Ki Aankh, gave a hit with Bala and Pati Patni Aur Woh.
