I thought she would fit the bill very well: Presenter Akshay Kumar on why he approached Bhumi Pednekar for 'Durgavati'

Akshay Kumar is on a roll! After back to back superhits, the superstar has now turned a presenter. Akshay has turned presenter for 'hero' Bhumi Pednekar's scary-thriller titled Durgavati. The actor announced the big news on November 30 on social media. He shared a photo with Bhumi, co-presenter Bhushan Kumar, producer Vikram Malhotra and director G. Ashok.

Recently, at a media interaction, while promoting his upcoming film Good Newwz, the actor was asked how he thought of casting Bhumi in the film and if it was because of the recent films in which she did good work. To this, Akshay said, "No, nothing like that. I could have requested anybody else also. I thought it was an IPS female role and I thought she would fit the bill very well and I just want a girl next door kind of an image, very simple straight. So, I went and requested her and she agreed."

Durgavati will be my first Hindi film where I am not acting. No, actually Fugly was the first Hindi film with Kiara in it. So, I keep doing it. Whenever I get a good script."
