After stepping into the shoes of a Maratha warrior in 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior', Ajay Devgn finds King Suheldev's story for the next 'unsung warrior' franchise film

Ajay Devgn's upcoming period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has garnered the right amount of anticipation. Now, as the film is inching closer to its release date, the wait to watch the magnum opus unravel on the big screen is undoubtedly becoming difficult. While fans are excited to learn about the journey and story of the bravery of this Maratha warrior, Ajay is already in plans to educate his audience and the country citizens about many more historical figures who have contributed to the freedom and growth of India in the past. Talking about the next in the 'unsung warrior' franchise, Ajay, during an interview with a leading daily, told that it will be based on King Suheldev, who was responsible for defeating Mahmud of Ghazni's army back in the 11th century AD in Bahraich that is modern Uttar Pradesh. He added that the film will be based on renowned author Amish Tripathi's book, which is still being written. The book is reportedly titled Suheldev & The Battle of Bahraich

"We’ve shortlisted quite a few. But the next one will be based on King Suheldev, who defeated Mahmud of Ghazni’s army in Bahraich (in Uttar Pradesh today) in the 11th century AD. Ghazni had got the Somnath Temple razed and after defeating his army, Suheldev rebuilt it. The film will be based on Amish Tripathi’s book, which he is currently working on. We have met and discussed the film adaptation," Ajay told.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is based on the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670 which was fought between Tanaji Malusare, a commander of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Udaybhan. Saif Ali Khan plays Rajput officer, Udaybhan Rathod, who served under Mughal army chief Jai Singh while Kajol will be seen as Ajay's onscreen wife Savitribai. The film is directed by Om Raut and produced by Ajay’s ADF and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. It will release on January 10, 2020. The film will be releasing in 3D.
