After writing a scathing column against Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat happily 'runs into' Nick Jonas

Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat, who had criticized Priyanka Chopra Jonas not too long ago for defending her ‘Jai Hind’ tweet on the Balakot air strike and even written a column against her demanding she be removed from the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador role, has made a stark U-Turn and posed happily for a picture at the US Open with PeeCee’s husband Nick Jonas. Mehwish and Nick were both watching Rafael Nadal play Matteo Berrettini in the Men's Semi-Final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

Mehwish shared the photo on her social media and wrote, “Guess who I ran into at the US Open Men's Semi-Finals in New York! One thing we both agreed on was that we were both rooting for Rafael Nadal!" Nick was not accompanied by Priyanka as she was Toronto-bound to promote her upcoming film The Sky Is Pink at the film festival. Whether Mehwish would have been so enthusiastic posing for a picture with Nick if Priyanka would have been there is anybody’s guess, but the comments she has received from the netizens call out the hypocrisy and irony of the Pakistani actress as she was pretty scathing of PeeCee as well as Bollywood.

Mehwish had penned an op-ed for CNN titled The problem with Priyanka Chopra, where she called out the Bollywood actor for failing to fulfill her responsibility as a celebrity and a United Nations goodwill ambassador. In her article, Mehwish had written, “This is where Priyanka Chopra and others have made a mistake: by lending their name to racism dressed up as patriotism, they have done us all a disservice." She even accused Bollywood of "fuelling hate and Islamophobia."

However, the United Nations had dismissed Mehwish’s demands and said that the Goodwill Ambassadors are free to speak up on the issues that are personal to them.
