Jiah, born as Nafisa Khan in the US and was raised in London, made her Bollywood debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabd. Later, she then went on to star in Ghajini and Housefull. She was aged 25 when she committed suicide. Within days of her death, Sooraj was arrested on June 10, 2013, and then on July 2, the High Court granted him bail. Jiah's mother Rabia Khan then filed a petition seeking transfer to the CBI in July 2014. After this, the investigation agency refused to charge Sooraj with murder charges as per what Rabia claimed.
