'Don’t I have the ability to be proud of being a newlywed,' says Priyanka Chopra to critics who said she overshared pictures from her wedding with Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas had a lavish and OTT fairytale-like wedding in Jodhpur in December 2018. Like an excited and elated bride, Priyanka shared pictures from her elaborate wedding ceremonies on her Instagram account for her fans to virtually be a part of the festivities. While most of us went gaga over the beauty of the wedding, some were of the opinion that Priyanka went overboard with the sharing of wedding pictures on her Instagram account. Priyanka, while giving an interview with an international daily, told that it was her decision to share pictures with millions of her followers in India and across the globe and she did that as a proud bride. She also said that if she wasn't a celebrity, she would have gotten married without media attention and would have done the same by posting pictures of her husband and her on the social media platform.

"If I wasn’t a famous person and I’d just got married, don’t you think my Insta would have photos of me and my husband?” she said. “Just because I’m famous, don’t I have the ability to be proud of being a newlywed without people saying that I’m using my marriage? I gave up my right to privacy when I became a public person, it’s the deal you make with the devil. But trust me, there are lots of things I still keep personal," Priyanka quoted.

A while prior to her wedding, Priyanka had revealed to Vogue that the function will be grand and people will need a vacation post seeing the pictures. "People will need vacations after this wedding," she said.

Priyanka and Nick got married with close family and friends in attendance. The wedding was done according to Hindu and Christian rituals. For the Christian wedding, Priyanka wore a Ralph Lauren gown with a veil extending to 75-foot. She wore a Sabyasachi lehenga for the Hindu wedding.
