Ayushmann Khurrana's semi-biographical book to be made into web series; wife Tahira Kashyap to direct it?

Ayushmann Khurrana, who made his Bollywood debut with Vicky Donar, has a knack of choosing unconventional scripts and his films, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Savdhaan and others, are proof enough. Not just that, his journey from a reality show participant to one of Bollywood's most bankable actors, has all the ingredients of a perfect script. Expectedly so, Raghu Ram of Roadies' has shown keen interest in his semi-biographical book, titled Cracking The Code, which Ayushmann has co-authored with wife Tahira Kashyap in 2015. Reportedly, he is looking to adapt the book into a web-series. The talks are in the initial stage. The book is a coming-of-age story of a Delhi boy who initially struggles to find a footing in Bollywood and eventually makes it big," a daily quoted a source as saying. Apparently, a team of writers is currently at work to develop the material into a web series.

Meanwhile, talks of Tahira helming the series are already on as she has written the original material. "It would be best to get her on board to direct the series. However, decisions regarding the director and casting will only be taken after Tahira and Ayushmann greenlight the final script. If all goes well, the project can roll early next year," the source added.

When Tahira was quizzed about the same, she revealed how there's less chance of her helming the series since her feature film goes on floors later this year apart from her original screenplays, which she is looking to develop. "Cracking The Code is not a biography, but more about how Ayushmann cracked the closed world [of the entertainment industry] to reach where he is. There is no screenplay yet, and thus, there is nothing for me to direct," Tahira concluded.

For now, we await an official confirmation on the project.
