'She had never auditioned until now': Dimple Kapadia's talent manager reveals how she bagged a role in Christopher Nolan's Tenet

Veteran actress Dimple Kapadia has, at the age of 61, impressed everyone recently as she landed a role in a Christopher Nolan film. She has been cast in the acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker's espionage thriller Tenet. The film will also feature Robert Pattinson and Michael Caine, and will be shot across seven countries, including India.

Now as everyone is cheering for Dimple on landing the role, her talent manager Purvi Lavingia Vats revealed that the role is the result of several discussions over the past one-and-a-half months. Stating that Nolan is very secretive about his scripts, he and his team asked Dimple to send an audition tape after seeing her previous work. "With someone like Nolan, who is secretive about his scripts, the brief provides little information on the role. For the audition, they don't give you a scene from the script. They [Nolan and team] had already seen her footage and had loved her work. When they saw her audition tape, Nolan and the casting director came around, and the rest is history," Purvi told a leading daily.

Further mentioning how Dimple had never auditioned before until now, Purvi added that she had to make the actress understand the process. "Dimple has never auditioned before. So I had to sit her down and make her understand that the idea of casting people, basis their taped auditions, is to understand if they fit the part. But they are respectful when someone is reluctant and are willing to watch tapes of their previous work," Purvi was quoted as saying.

Well, we cannot wait to see her carve magic on the screen with her Hollywood flick.

Dimple, who made her screen debut with 1973's Bollywood film Bobby, is a National Award winner. She has proved her mettle in Indian cinema with an eclectic mix of parallel and commercial films.
