'Jungle Cry' trailer: Abhay Deol takes a team of rural Odisha boys to World Cup Journey in this inspiring sports drama

Abhay Deol, who was last seen in films including Nanu Ki Jaanu and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero, is all set to feature next in Jungle Cry, a biopic based on on the life of Rugby coach Rudraksha Jena of Bhubaneswar's Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). For the unversed, Rudraksha led the team of rural Odisha boys for an inter-school rugby tournament in London. The makers of Jungle Cry released the much-awaited poster and trailer at Cannes Film Festival 2019 and it depicts the inspiring journey of amateur Odisha boys, whose life takes a turn when Stewart Wright as MBE Paul Walsh, rugby coach, enters into the scene. 

Later, Abhay's character handpicks these boy, who did not know anything about the sport, for the rugby team. The underdog story of a team, who goes on to win the tournament, will certainly remind you of Chak De! India. Watch the trailer here:

Talking about the project, Abhay said, "What makes the win even more impressive is that these kids were football players who had just four months to learn rugby and still managed to lift the World Cup in the UK. This is an underdog story of success and that’s what made it attractive to me," as quoted by a leading daily.

Directed by Sagar Ballary. the film also features Emily Shah as a physiotherapist. Bankrolled by Prashant Shah and Shabbir Boxwala, the release date of Jungle Cry is yet to be announced.
