Shah Rukh Khan has opted out of Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 for “personal reasons” and the makers have approached Ranveer Singh to play the lead role in the film, if a report in a leading daily is anything to go by. SRK starred in the lead role in Don and Don 2 and was supposed to begin filming Don 3 soon but it appears that he has quit the film.
The Zoya Akhtar-produced franchise is still in the works and with SRK opting out the film, the report states that she has asked Ranveer to star in it and both are discussing the project. In case Ranveer signs up for the role, Zoya might consider Katrina Kaif as the female lead in the film.
However, no official confirmation has been provided on this report so far. Though, after the failure of his 2018 film Zero, it seems SRK has become pretty much skeptical about choosing his films. The 53-year-old actor also quit Saare Jahaan Se Achcha, the biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
Ranveer Singh is currently filming ’83 and was last seen in Gully Boy, co-starring Alia Bhatt. The film, based on the life of street rappers in Mumbai, was directed by Zoya Akhtar.
Katrina Kaif will appear next in her Eid release Bharat opposite Salman Khan.
