I think the best franchise would either be Luck By Chance or Dil Dhadakne Do: Zoya Akhtar on making sequels to her films

Zoya Akhtar has completed 10 years in Bollywood and is currently riding high on the success of her recent release Gully Boy that stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. She made her directorial debut with the film Luck By Chance that featured Farhan Akhtar and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead along with Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan, Isha Sharvani and Sanjay Kapoor in pivotal roles. She has also directed some great films like Dil Dhadakne Do and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

In her recent interview to an entertainment portal, Zoya was asked which of her films could make for a franchise and can have a sequel. To this, she said, “Honestly, people want a second movie of ZNMD, but I think the best franchise would either be Luck By Chance or Dil Dhadakne Do. There are so many characters and so many streams and they are ongoing stories. So I think they would make better franchises.”

Dil Dhadakne Do and Luck By Chance had several characters but did not do breakthrough business at the box office. Dil Dhadakne Do starred Priyanka Chopra, Farhan, Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Anushka Sharma and Rahul Bose.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starred Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin in the lead and was a breakthrough film. Like Farhan’s directorial Dil Chahta Hai, ZNMD has found its place as one of the most loved films of recent times. Earlier reports of the film getting a sequel made rounds on the internet but Zoya has refrained from talking about it and has not decided about a film franchise. Now, we’re sure if Zoya does plan to make a sequel for either of the films she will do a swell job and we hope that she puts more thought into this idea of hers.
