Priyanka Chopra requested designers to sew Nick Jonas’ and her parents’ name onto her wedding outfits

As details of Priyanka Chopra’s wedding outfits emerged, we noticed that her family played an integral role in almost every aspect of her Indian and Christian ensembles. Didn’t get this? We’ll explain. Priyanka married Nick Jonas in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur on December 2 and in a Christian wedding on December 1.

The lehenga choli that she wore for her Hindu wedding was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. But guess what was special? International magazine People interviewed Priyanka and Nick after their wedding and the publication, in their exclusive report, stated that the actress had requested Sabyasachi to sew the names of Nick and her parents, Ashok and Madhu, “into the waistband of her skirt in her native language”.

Even for her Christian wedding gown, designer Ralph Lauren’s team “hand-stitched eight words and phrases” into the dress – Nick Jonas’ full name (Nicholas Jerry Jonas), her wedding date – December 1 – and her parents’ names – Madhu and Ashok Chopra. To make the gown even more special, Priyanka requested the designer’s team to sew a piece of her mother-in-law Denise Jonas’ lace wedding dress into hers, People reports.
