Katrina Kaif gets on board Salman Khan’s Bharat in the Nick of time: Ali Abbas Zafar

Priyanka Chopra walked out of Salman Khan’s Bharat due to personal reasons that were confirmed by the director Ali Abbas Zafar. Following the cryptic tweet of the director the actress’ marriage rumours with American singer-songwriter-actor, Nick Jonas gained momentum and it was revealed that the two have reportedly got engaged. The search for the leading lady was on and after much speculation and beating around the bush Katrina Kaif has been confirmed to play the lead in the film. The trio reunites after their last Tiger Zinda Hai that released in 2017 and was a stupendous hit.

A lot of names were in the offing for the female lead in Bharat and Zafar had even taken to Twitter to ask everyone to keep calm as they would announce the leading lady soon, but now the director is elated to having Katrina on board and confirmed it to a leading daily. The daily reported him saying, “I am extremely excited to work with Katrina and Salman again. We have had exciting collaborations in the past. Katrina got on board in the Nick of time for this project.”

Priyanka’s exit sparked a lot of rumours about how Salman is unhappy with the actress and has vowed to never work with her again. However, nothing official came out of the horse’s mouth. Katrina will commence shooting for the film from September onwards as she is busy with completing her present work commitments.

Salman plays the role of a daredevil stunt motorcyclist in the film and has already started shooting in a grand circus sequence with Disha Patani who plays a trapeze artist in the film. Bharat also stars Tabu, Sunil Grover, Aasif Sheikh and Jackie Shroff. Bharat is a period drama and is the official Hindi remake of South Korean film Ode To My Father. It is slated for an Eid 2019 release.
