Rani Mukerji's Hichki to join Chumbak and Sanju at the IFFM

Bollywood is on a roll! This year has been a delight with the varied, interesting and off-beat movies churning out of the biggest film industry. From biopics to period dramas, 2018 has given its best so far, both critically and commercially. While the appreciation at home has been tremendous, our films are all set to impress the international audiences at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Recently, it was announced that Rajkumar Hirani's directorial, Sanju, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt, will be hosted at the international film festival. Following that was Marathi film Chumbak, starring lyricist Swanand Kirkire, backed by Akshay Kumar. Now, the news comes in that Rani Mukerji's Hichki, which was a hit at the home turf, will also be joining the other two films at the festival.

The theme for the Melbourne festival this year is 'Inclusion' which was announced recently. Hichki, which deals with Tourette syndrome, has been selected as the premiere Bollywood film. Director of the film, Siddharth P Malhotra told a leading daily, "Hichki has the message of turning your weaknesses into strength and this movie can make a huge impact on our lives. It's great to know that our film will be screened in liaison with this thought." The film was previously screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival and the response was no different.

The film marked Rani's big comeback after 2014's Mardaani and was quick to achieve box office success. The actress said, “It stands at a very important place. Hichki was my comeback film which I did right after giving birth to my baby Adira. So there were a lot of questions I had about whether I would be able to deliver a hit, whether the audiences would like to see me on screen four years after Mardaani. Hichki has dispelled all those questions”.

We're sure the audiences at IFFM are in for a treat.
