Veere Di Wedding gets an 'A' certificate; Anil-Jeetendra convince CBFC to retain cusswords

These dads have sass! Apparently, while the Censor Board was ready with the scissors to chop off all the forbidden foul language in Veere Di Wedding, they were convinced not to by the very persuasive Anil Kapoor and Jeetendra.

Produced by their respective daughters, Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, the film is 'not' a chick flick that has already raised eyebrows and brought naughty grins to umpteen faces. Starring Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, the film is replete with cuss words and other unmentionables that are rarely if ever seen in a mainstream Hindi film centring around four women.

The trailer showed the girls delivering such deliciously scandalous dialogues as “Ab teri lene ke liye degree bhi chahiye?”, “Fir tere liye rajma chawal kon banayga roz roz, NRI ch**?” and “Guess what an orgasm is called in Hindi, ladies? Charam Sukh!”

We see Sonam using the forbidden Hindi ‘ch’ word and Kareena dropping the ‘f’ word in English. There is even a sequence showing a protagonist with a (gasp!) vibrator.
No surprises for guessing, members of the CBFC were shocked and mortified by the colourful language being used on screen. They were determined to hack off all such unladylike obscenity, but they hadn’t contended with the producers’ dads…

Apparently, both Jeetendra and Anil Kapoor, who had attended the censor certification screening of the film, rose to the occasion and put forward some strong arguments in favour of the strong language used in the film. By the end of it, they had convinced the esteemed CBFC members that the lingo of today’s youth is peppered with casual cusswords that are not meant to be taken literally. It worked and the film has been given an ‘A’ certificate minus cuts.

Classic case of papa di power here!
