We can’t wait to see Salman at 70!

A treat coming up for fans of Bhai. Word comes in that Salman will be sporting five different looks in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Eid 2019 release, Bharat. The film spans 70 years and will portray the character through various stages. Speaking of the film which goes on the floors in June, Zafar revealed, “Bharat is a beautiful story seen through the eyes of Salman’s character. Since it spans seven decades, we decided to feature five extremely different looks. Each avatar will reflect the character’s transition; reflect on his life and times. We start shooting in June but prep kicks off on February 6.”

Featuring five different looks is no piece of cake and there will be a considerable use of prosthetics and VFX in the film. This requires sufficient planning and look tests will tee off in the first week of February, enabling the team to experiment and ensure the looks turn out right.

For those wondering what Bharat is all about, the film is an official remake of the 2014 Korean drama An Ode To My Father. It is produced by Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri and is set to be shot in Punjab, Delhi, Abu Dhabi and Spain.
Atul, who is married to Salman’s sister Alvira, had spoken last year about his decision to pass on the directorial reins to Ali. He has directed two films in the past but believes he contributes better as a producer. “Ali is a friend, I love his work and eventually it’s all about connecting with the source. If you speak to him, you will realize that Ali is far more passionate about the material,” he had stated.

Meanwhile, interest grows in seeing Salman in a film that has a most interesting premise. The original Korean film had featured the country’s modern history through the life of an ordinary man as he witnessed historical events. Of course, the film centered around the history of Korea, including the Hungnam Evacuation of 1950 during the Korean War, the government’s decision to dispatch nurses and miners to West Germany in the 1960s, and the Vietnam War. It will be interesting to see how the film is adapted to the ‘Bharat’ scenario.
