Kangana Ranaut summoned by Mumbai Police in defamation case levied against her by Javed Akhtar

Kangana Ranaut’s legal troubles have increased. Mumbai Police has sent summon to the actress to record her statement on January 22, 2021 in the defamation case levied against her by veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar. Akhtar had filed a case against Kangana at the Andheri Court last year.

Akhtar has alleged that Kangana in a television interview defamed him and made baseless allegations against him. Akhtar had sued the actress for her claim that he had threatened her to withdraw her case against Hrithik Roshan. He contended that Kangana has called him part of ‘suicide gang’ and claimed that he had threatened her saying if she didn’t back out she will have no option but to die by suicide. The recording of Kangana’s interview was also presented in the court.

In December 2020, the Court had directed Mumbai Police to submit a report in the case by January 16, 2021. However, the Mumbai Police asked for more time to submit the report and got an extension till February 1.

Kangana has also been booked under seditious tweet case.
