Gangubai's family files a case against 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt over the film's story

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt is in trouble! Gangubai's family members have filed a case against the director and the actress in Bombay Civil Court, raising objection to the story of the film. In the complaint, the family members of Gangubai have objected to the story of the film. 

According to reports, the Gangubai Kathiawadi team has been given time to reply on this case till January 7, 2021. Not only that, the writer of Mafia Queens of Mumbai, Hussain Zaidi on whose book the film is based, has also filed a case against the filmmaker and actress.

Alia Bhatt, who recently restarted the filming of the project, had shared her excitement and said, “It’s a great feeling to be reunited with the team and being back on set. Of course, we have multiple restrictions and protocols to follow, everyone is very careful, taking all sorts of precautions. But we’ve accepted that this is the new normal, and we’re all trying to make the best of the situation.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a brothel madam from the red light area, Kamathipura in Mumbai. She is said to have changed the face of the region and is one of the most remembered women from the history of Mumbai. Gangubai is believed to have been pushed into prostitution at a very young age and become the most influential pimp, having served several renowned criminals from the city. Gangubai Kathiawadi will be co-produced by Sanjay and Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Ltd. The new release date of the film is not out yet.
