Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Disha Vakani suffering from throat cancer? Director calls out 'irresponsible news'

Disha Vakani, who made the character of Dayaben Gada from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah iconic, is missing from the show since 2017 when she took her first maternity break. While fans have been wondering about the real reason behind her absence, there were rumours that she's suffering from throat cancer. Hitting back at the false claims, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's director Malav Rajda slammed news portals for carrying unverified stories.

Sharing a screenshot of a news report's headline, Malav reacted to the irresponsible act. "Like jethalal says...nonsense...News reporting is such a responsible job...It really amazes me how at times it's so irresponsibly done. Yaar such big news. At least cross-check once. It can affect so many people and why why why to print any news till you are sure about it. So to all her fans this is completely false," his caption on Instagram read.

Earlier this week, rumours began floating on social media that Disha is out of action due to throat cancer. Some portals claimed that it was because of the peculiar voice she had to give to her on-screen character.

In May, Disha welcomed her second child, a baby boy. Married to businessman Mayur Padia, Disha gave birth to a baby girl named Stuti in 2017.
