Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan posts Rs 70 crore historic box office figures on Republic Day, soars past Rs 125 crore mark in just 2 days

Shah Rukh Khan is back with a bang! His film Pathaan registered the biggest ever opening for a Hindi film in India and worldwide when it released on January 25, 2023, and now the second day collections of the film have set a new record. As per a trade website, the film collected approximately Rs 70 crore nett on Thursday, Day 2 of its release which was a holiday on account of Republic Day. This is another unprecedented jump from the first day collections and it could be higher as various sectors in the South saw huge crowds at the theatres.

The figures of Pathaan are in the range of Rs 65-70 crore nett, which makes the film’s combined two-day collections more than Rs 120 crore as it crosses Rs 57 crore on Day 1. If the going continues like this then it is predicted that the film will enter the Rs 200 crore club in the opening weekend itself. As per trade gurus, the film made Rs 32.0 crore only from three chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis.

On Thursday, YRF celebrated “the biggest opening day in the history of Hindi cinema worldwide gross” with Rs 106 crore. Pathaan earned Rs 57 crore on its first day of release despite it being a working day. The success of Pathaan lies solely on the shoulders of Shah Rukh whose return to big screen is being celebrated by his fans.

Pathaan is SRK’s comeback film after 2018’s Zero that failed to ignite the box office. The film is a part of YRF Spy Universe and a part of YRF50 slate. It also stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana and is directed by Siddharth Anand.
