Box Office: 'Baaghi 3' crosses Rs 50 crore mark; 'Thappad' shows a jump in second weekend; 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' continues to impress

Ahmed Khan's Baaghi 3, starring Tiger Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, Shraddha Kapoor, Ankita Lokhande and others, casts Tiger and Riteish as brothers, who share a deep bond of affection. Ronnie, \has been protective about Vikram since they were young. In a turn of events Riteish's Vikram, a cop, is sent to Syria in a trap and what follows his Ronnie's struggle to rescue his brother.

The film opened to Rs 17.50 crore at the box office. On its third day, Sunday, it minted a total of Rs 20.30 crore, taking the overal first weekend collections to Rs 53.83 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the numbers, "#Baaghi3 braves mixed reports + #CoronaVirus scare + examination period, yet fares well... Mass pockets superb, metros grow on Day 3... Third #TigerShroff movie to cross 50 cr in *opening weekend*... Fri 17.50 cr, Sat 16.03 cr, Sun 20.30 cr. Total: 53.83 cr. #India biz."

On the other hand, Taapsee Pannu's Thappad, which deals with domestic violence, showed a jump on its second Sunday and raked in Rs 2.15 crore despite reduced shows and competition from Baaghi 3.

Lastly, gay love story Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar apart from Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao collected Rs 97 lakhs on Sunday and has raced past Rs 60 crore mark.
