Ajay Devgn's 'Tanhaji; The Unsung Warrior' inches closer to Rs 150 crore mark; Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' fails to make an attempt; 'Good Newwz' about to make history

Ajay Devgn’s latest release Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior happens to be the actor’s 100th film, and has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office as well. The historical film showcases the valour of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare played by Ajay. Kajol and Saif Ali Khan also star in the film. Now on its second Friday, the film minted Rs 10.06 crore, taking the total box office collections to Rs 128.91 crore. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the numbers:

On the other hand, the other January 10 release, Deepika Padukone’s hard-hitting drama Chhapaak has gone down another 40% of Friday. It earned an estimated Rs 75 lakh on Friday and the total collections of the film are now Rs 26.5 crore. Chhapaak should be able to cross the Rs 30 crore nett mark at the end of week. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and is Deepika’s first production venture, co-starring Vikrant Massey.

Last but not the least, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani starrer Good Newwz continues to mint moolah at the box office. The film was the last release of 2019 has not faced any real competition from the New Year’s releases. Till Thursday, the film earned Rs 197.10 crore. 

It released on December 27.
