Box-Office: Akshay Kumar's Kesari inches towards Rs 150 crore mark; John Abraham's RAW fails to create an impact

Akhay Kumar's war drama Kesari, co-starrring Parineeti Chopra, released on the occasion of Holi and is currently in its fourth week at the box-office. Interestingly, the film has witnessed a good third weekend collection and is steadily making its way towards the Rs 150 crore club, having collected Rs 143.02 crore so far. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the film’s box office figures on Twitter and wrote that whether Kesari crosses the Rs 150 crore mark or not would depend on how the film would trend on weekdays and weekends.

Kesari, directed by Anurag Singh, is based on 1897 Battle of Saragarhi fought between 21 Sikh soldiers and 10,000 Afghan troops. The film saw the highest opening of the year 2019 and crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in the first three days itself.

On the other hand, John Abraham's and Mouni Roy's spy thriller Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) has failed to create an impact amongst the audience. The film, which opened to Rs 6 crore on Friday, went on to earn Rs 7.70 crore on Saturday. On its third day, the film managed to rake in Rs 9 crore, thereby taking the told India business to Rs 22.90 crore. Now as RAW tries to get a grip at the box-office, the final fate of the film is yet to be seen.

Directed by Robbie Grewal, Romeo Akbar Walter traces the story of a spy who crosses the enemy lines in 1971 to carry one of biggest undercover missions.
