Ever since the teaser of Sanjay Dutt’s biopic Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role was released, there was no stopping for the film. It had become the numero uno term on Google search. Now, that the film is released, it has created havoc at the box office by collecting a staggering Rs 120.06 crore over the weekend. The film crossed the 200-crore mark worldwide and is only the third Hindi-language film to do so after Sultan (Eid weekend) and Baahubali 2 (Hindi version only).

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the film’s box office collections which are mind-boggling. The film has released only last Friday (June 29) and over only three days has collected more than Rs 100 crore in India territory.

Sanju is leading in terms of weekend collections followed by Padmaavat, Race 3, Baaghi 2 and Raid. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film once again proves the director’s mettle as an exceptional storyteller. The film has given major career boost to Ranbir as well whose past few films could not create any magic at the box office. With Sanju he is back with a bang and will definitely sweep all the awards for this year.

Sanju has got exceptional ratings from almost all the critics although quite a few feel that the film is a PR exercise for Sanjay. Besides, Ranbir the film stars Paresh Rawal, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Manisha Koirala and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles. Paresh plays the role of Sunil Dutt, Sanjay’s father whereas Manisha plays the role of Nargis Dutt, Sanjay’s mother. Vicky plays the role of Sanjay’s best friend Paresh Ghelani who stood by him through thick-and-thin.
