Akshay Kumar's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha helps box office constipation!

Bonafide movie star whose career has seen a sharp shift to content based films in the last 5 years is breathing much-required oxygen to a breathless industry! Akshay Kumar's films of relevance and patriotic spirit have consistently delivered box office returns.

The recent cinema deluge was heading towards a crisis zone for the economics of the movies but TOILET provided the much-needed relief for cinegoers as well as the exhibitors and distributors. Toilet has had the most growth ever percentage wise. On Friday the film earned ₹ 13.10 crores, ₹17.10 crores on Saturday and ₹ 21.25 crore on Sunday. The total business of the film in its first weekend has been ₹ 51.45 crores.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is the first hit for Bollywood after a string of high-profile flops that include Tubelight, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Jagga Jasoos.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, may be winning the box office but opened to poor reviews last Friday as numerous critics denounced the film as a glorified advertisement for the Swachh Bharat drive and dismissed the film's screenplay as little more than a 'government pamphlet.'
