On August 3, PeepingMoon.com exclusively informed its readers that Shamita Shetty will be participating in Bigg Boss OTT, hosted by Karan Johar. The actress, who is the younger sister of Shilpa Shetty, was seen in the reality show in 2009. Now, returning to Bigg Boss stronger, Shamita opened up about the rough phase in life that her family is going through. Shamita's brother-in-law Raj Kundra is currently in judicial custody for allegedly being the key conspirator in a pornography case. She told Karan that she was in two minds about continuing with her participation after recent events.
"Waqt achcha ho, bura ho, jab hum saans lena nahi chhodte toh hum kaam kyun chhode? And honestly, Bigg Boss ka offer mujhe bohot time pehle aaya tha aur maine commitment kar di thi uss waqt. Phir itna kuch ho gaya aur maine definitely socha ki shayad iss waqt Bigg Boss ke ghar ke andar jaana sahi nahi hoga but commitment kar di thi maine aur ek baar jo maine commitment karti hoon toh main khud ki bhi nahi sunti," Shamita told. Raj, Shilpa's husband and a businessman, was arrested on July 19 by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
After her grand entry, Karan introduced her to all the male contestants of Bigg Boss OTT- Raqesh Bapat, Karan Nath, Milind Gaba, Zeeshan Khan, Pratik Sehajpal and Nishant Bhat. Shamita greeted them sweetly and said Pratik gave her Korean vibes. However, he didn't like her statement and took it in an offensive way. When he asked if she meant it in a different way, Shamita clarified that she is into K-Pop and K-Drama that's why she said so. Pratik didn't like her response.
Pratik further argued with Shamita and said that her K-pop and K-Drama excuse was contradicting. Shamita got irritated with Pratik and asked him to keep his opinions to himself. After a bhel making competition between Raqesh and Karan, Shamita chose the former as her connection in the house.
