Salman Khan is thankful to Shah Rukh Khan for declining Bigg Boss in 2010!

The biggest and the most controversial show on Indian television is back with a bang, or maybe a splash! A press conference was held in Goa today to officially launch Bigg Boss season 12. Its host, Salman Khan made an entry cruising in the blue waters of Goa. After performing to his hit songs, Jeene Ke Chaar Din and Jumme Ke Raat, Salman shared a few interesting anecdotes, flavoured with his humour and wit as usual.

Salman, who has been hosting the reality game show for nine seasons now, revealed that he wasn’t the channel’s first choice to host the show. In fact, it was Salman’s old friend and superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. For the unversed, BB season 1 was hosted by Arshad Warsi back in 2006, Shilpa Shetty hosted season 2 in 2008 and Amitabh Bachchan took over season 3 in 2009. After this, the makers were hunting for a new star to host for the next season and that's when they approached SRK in 2010. However, in 2008, while shooting for Karan Johar's My Name is Khan, SRK injured his shoulder and underwent a surgery in 2013.

At the launch event today, Salman shared, “Shah Rukh Khan was the first choice to host Bigg Boss but he couldn't make it due to his shoots and shoulder injury. I also got to know about this recently. I want to thank SRK and Colors for giving me BB.”

The show is set to return on the small screens, starting September 16. It will air on Colors TV in the late night time slot of 10.30 pm to 11.30 pm, Monday to Friday. While Salman zoomed in on a cruise, the journalists were welcomed with a tilak. The selected few of the lot will get a chance to enter into the Bigg Boss house, yet again.

Salman was busy shooting in Malta for his upcoming Ali Abbas Zafar directorial Bharat. He flew to Mumbai a few days back to make it in time for the Bigg Boss 12 press conference. The actor will be busy juggling between multiple shoots and projects as he also gears up for BB 12 once again.
