Hannah Beachler was honoured with the Best Production Design trophy at the 91st Academy Awards in Los Angeles for her work in the superhero film Black Panther. She became the first African-American to be nominated and to win an Oscar in production design.
After winning the Oscar, Hannah delivered a moving acceptance speech during which she thanked the cast and crew of Black Panther, especially director Ryan Coogler. “I stand here with agency and self-worth because of (director) Ryan Coogler, who not only made me a better designer, a better storyteller, a better person," she said adding that he offered her patience and "better perspective of life".

On stage, Hannah also shared the same advice she had once received, "When you think things are impossible, remember I did my best, and my best is good enough."
Along with Hannah Beachler, Jay Hart also won the Best Production Design trophy for Black Panther as he was responsible for decorating the set of the film.
