Janhvi Kapoor’s crime-comedy Good Luck Jerry has taken the OTT route, bypassing theatres. The makers have decided to give it a digital release and are all set to have its premiere on Disney+Hotstar on July 29. Janhvi confirmed the news this morning as she release two new posters from the film and confirmed the release date as well.
In the first poster, Janhvi is seen with a scared and intense look on her face with a gun in her hands. In the second poster, Janhvi is seen hiding half her face behind a table filled with momos and noodles. Sharing the posters, Janhvi wrote, "Nikal Padi hu main ek naye adventure par, GoodLuck nahi bolenge? #GoodLuckJerry streaming from 29th July on @disneyplushotstar"
Good Luck Jerry will mark Janhvi Kapoor’s second release on OTT after Dharma Productions’ Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, which premiered on Netflix during the first wave of the coronavirus in 2020. As for Aanand L Rai, it’s his third production venture to skip theatres after Taapsee Pannu's critically-acclaimed romantic thriller, Haseen Dillruba, and the Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan starrer triangle love story, Atrangi Re, which premiered during Christmas weekend last year.
Good Luck Jerry is the official remake of Nayanthara’s 2018 Tamil crime-comedy, Kolamavu Kokila. Directed by debutant Siddharth Sengupta and written by Pankaj Matta, the Hindi version also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Mita Vashishtha, Neeraj Sood, and Sushant Singh in the pivotal roles. It revolves around a happy-go-lucky young girl who gets involved in a drug racket to earn quick money. Circumstances eventually bring her entire family into the drug smuggling business. What follows next is a series of unwarranted twists and turns that make the film an interesting thriller.
