Indian actor Anupam Tripathi pens an emotional note as he gets nominated for SAG Awards for Squid Game, says 'dreams do come true'

Netflix's superhit Korean drama Squid Game is on a roll! The show has been nominated for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Drama Series in the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG). Sharing the nomination certificate on social media, Indian actor Anupam Tripathi, who played the role of Ali in the series, expressed his gratitude in a lengthy note.

Anupam shared the certificate and wrote, "I  feel honored,humbled,blessed and great to be nominated in the Screen Actor’s Guild awards 2021 in an ensemble cast of SquidGame for an outstanding performance in drama series As an actor to be nominated in screen actor’s guild awards means world to me alongside with my dream team of SquidGame who made my each moment on the set unforgettable. The greats of Korean film and drama industry whom I see on screen and learn to this day has given me support to perform with joy in SquidGame and treated me as family all the way from the word go :-)"

He added, "As an Indian actor working in Korea and getting the recognition and appreciation in One of the prestigious award show (SAG awards) in the world for actors says it all that “dreams do come true”. I take immense pride in saying that I am also a SAG award nominee for the outstanding performance in the ensemble cast of drama series SquidGame . And I am looking forward to see all my favourite actors with eagerness who all are nominated in sag awards 2021:-) I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all the nominees in SAG awards 2021 from the bottom of my heart :-) This recognition and appreciation is the result of the hard work of each and every member of cast and crew of SquidGame who held their hands together and work shoulder to shoulder to bring out the best story of the people for the people :-)"

Just recently, the hit Korean Netflix show had become the first non-English show to bag nomination for the Producers Guild of America award. The K-drama series had bagged the nomination under the 'Best Episodic Drama' category, alongside The Morning Show, The Handmaid’s Tale, Yellowstone and Succession.

Last year, Squid Game became Netflix's "biggest-ever series at launch". The dystopian series, in which contestants who are deeply in need of money play deadly children's games to win cash prizes, has been viewed by more than 100 million accounts since debuting on Netflix on September 17, 2021.
