Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karwa's relationship drama directed by Shakun Batra is one of the much-anticipated films of 2022. Now, as the year is coming to an end, the makers finally shared an update regarding its release and title. The relationship drama is titled Gehraiyaan and will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video on January 25, 2022. The teaser of the film was released on social media.
Karan Johar, the producer of Gehraiyaan, shared the glimpse and wrote, "It's time to dive deep and find out what's beneath just the surface. #GehraiyaanOnPrime world premiere on Jan 25." The video introduces us to the four characters of the story. From Deepika and Siddhant's sizzling chemistry to Ananya and Dhairya's freshness, Gehraiyaan is much awaited.
In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, Dhairya had told that the audience can expect the unexpected. "I am grateful to be a part of another great story. The audience should expect the unexpected. Whatever you see, there will be more to it. You will be pleasantly surprised by it. The theme of the film is you can plan for your life but life will have other plans too. Sometimes, life’s plans turn out to be better than yours," he said.
In 2020, Deepika opened up about the genre of Gehraiyaan and said in an interview, "To be honest, you can’t call Shakun’s film ‘light’ either... Although the overall tonality of the film is slightly lighter than my last film, in terms of inner, emotional turmoil my character goes through, it’s quite challenging. The overall genre of the film is something we haven’t seen much in Indian cinema, it’s called domestic noir. I don’t think that’s a genre we are very familiar with, but at the same time, the audience is completely ready for it, as we have been exposed to that genre in different ways, whether through Hollywood films or OTT platforms. What I enjoy and look forward to, as far as this film is concerned, Shakun has this strong point with people and relationships."
