For the first time, Sidharth Malhotra is teaming up with his rumoured girlfriend Kiara Advani for a film. Titled Shershaah, the Vishnu Varadhan directorial will release on Amazon Prime Video on August 12. While Sidharth and Kiara have chosen to remain tight-lipped on their alleged relationship, fans are pretty much sure that something is cooking between the good looking and supremely talented actors. Now, in a recent interview for Shershaah, director Vishnu Varadhan spoke about Sidharth and Kiara's rumoured romance. Talking to an entertainment portal, he subtly dropped in a hint at his lead pair's real-life relationship. However, Vishnu was quick to add that their off-screen romance didn't affect Shershaah.
"I'll honestly tell you, that didn't even matter to me while I was filming. It is not about Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, for me it is Captain Vikram Batra and Dimple (Dimple Cheema, his real-life love interest); they were playing the characters. For me, it didn't matter – just because they're in a real-life something or whatever is happening, it's their personal life, it's not going to help me for the film. What really worked for me, if you see the trailer carefully, it's the way Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani looked, their pairing is actually fresh – that's what actually worked because they're very close to the characters. For me, it doesn't matter if it's going to help or not (the relationship angle), as a maker, I don't think that's a factor as such. Whether on-screen they're playing (the characters) and off-screen they're romancing, it doesn't matter to me," Vishnu told.
The rumoured couple garnered appreciation for their on-screen chemistry in Shershaah. Sidharth plays the role of Captain Vikram Batra, a Kargil war hero, and his lady love Dimple Cheema.
Kiara, who turned 29 on July 31, celebrated her birthday with Sidharth. However, he made a blink and miss appearance in her Instagram video, but fans were quick enough to spot him at the party.
