Ratched Trailer: Sarah Paulson effortlessly transforms into the iconic villain Nurse Ratched in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest' prequel

Netflix, on Tuesday, released the trailer of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest prequel titled Ratched. Featuring Sarah Paulson in the titular role, the American psychological drama will trace the villainous Nurse Ratched. The series is created by Evan Romansky and executive-produced by Ryan Murphy. 

The trailer promises to take the audience on a thrilling ride as it also touches upon mental health. Ratched will be set in the year 1947 and will showcase Nurse Ratched, played by Sara's journey from being a nurse to one of the repulsive villains of all time. Sara will be playing the younger version of Nurse Ratched.

Speaking of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the film released in 1975. It went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture. The film was based on Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel of the same name. In the original film, Nurse Ratched was played by Louise Fletcher, who won an Oscar for Best Actress. Apart from this, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest secured awards for Best Director (Milos Forman), Best Actor (Jack Nicholson) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman).

Ratched, apart from Sara, features Sharon Stone, Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis and Charlie Carver in important roles. The series will premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2020.
