From Sushant Singh Rajput's 'Dil Bechara' to Jacob Elordi's 'The Kissing Booth 2', top 10 OTT movies and shows to binge watch this weekend

OTT platforms have been running successfully ever since the lockdown was imposed nationwide. In fact, with engaging content on romance, food, crime, comedy, and thriller, there has always been a range of genres for the audience to explore on digital platforms ever since it was launched. Now, with theaters being shut, some of the big-budget Bollywood films are also releasing on web platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Diney+ Hotstar, and ZEE5. 

Good news for all the movie lovers out there, 10 new films and shows are releasing on several OTT platforms this week that will leave everyone impressed. From Sushant Singh Rajput's last film Dil Bechara to Joey King's and Jacob Elordi's The Kissing Booth 2, quality content is making its way to these digital platforms this week as well. 

Here are the top 10 shows and movies that you must binge-watch this weekend: 

DIL BECHARA - DISNEY+HOTSTAR

Originally titled Kizie and Manny, Mukesh Chhabra's Dil Bechara is Sushant Singh Rajput's last film that also stars Sanjana Sanghi. The film will premiere on Disney+Hotstar on July 24 for subscribers as well as non-subscribers. It is the Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars. Fans are pretty excited about this one!

THE KISSING BOOTH 2 - NETFLIX

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit teen rom-com The Kissing Booth, starring Joey King and Jacob Elordi, is all set to come to our home screens. But this time, after a far-fetched union of Elle with her long-term crush, Noah, the audiences will see them part ways as she completes senior year at high school and he heads to Harvard. The film will premiere on Netflix on July 24.

PROJECT MARATHWADA – NETFLIX

Late Om Puri, Govind Namdeo, Dalip Tahil, and Seema Biswas starter Project Marathawada, tells the story of a Marathwada-based indebted farmer who comes to Mumbai seeking help from the Government after his son commits suicide. The film will premiere on Netflix on July 25. 

DOOR KE DARSHAN - NETFLIX

The comedy film centers around a family that is busy recreating a bygone era, to keep the just-out-of-coma matriarch from realizing that three decades have passed. As far-fetched as it sounds, the movie takes a hilarious route to make it happen. Featuring Mahie Gill, Manu Rishi Chaddha, and Dolly Ahluwalia, the film will premiere on Netflix on July 25. 

THE KING – NETFLIX

A new documentary joins the list of shows and movies on Netflix where a filmmaker takes a road-trip across America in Elvis Presley’s Rolls-Royce. During this trip, they visit those places where the King of Pop left his mark. The film premiered on Netflix on July 22. 

FEAR CITY: NEW YORK VS THE MAFIA – NETFLIX

The show is about a group of five Mafia families who ruled New York with an iron and bloody fist in the 70s and 80s. After having had enough, a group of federal agents tries their best to take them on. The show premiered on Netflix on July 22.

HOW TO SELL DRUGS ONLINE (FAST) – NETFLIX

The second season of this German coming-of-age drama is also among the new shows and movies on Netflix releasing this week. This time, Moritz and the MyDrugs crew are turning up the heat on their business as it sees gaining success. However, with more sales comes the larger threat of getting caught. Seems like the second season is sure to leave you on the edge of your seats. The show premiered on Netflix on July 21.

JIM GAFFIGAN: THE PALE TOURIST - AMAZON PRIME

The stand-up special features Jim Gaffigan's experiences during his tour around the world—he travelled to collect anecdotes by talking to locals everywhere and later transformed them into a comedy act. The two-part series focuses on each of the destinations individually. The film will premiere on Amazon Prime on July 24. 

JUST MERCY – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Michael B. Jordan plays the role of a Harvard Law Graduate called Bryan Stevenson, who heads to Alabama to defend people who have been wrongly accused or not afforded proper representation. Given that 'Black Lives Matter' is a big part of today’s conversations, this is a relevant film that shows the racism African Americans face in the States. The film premiered on Amazon Prime on July 21. 

OMERTÀ – ZEE5

Another movie not to be missed this week is Rajkummar Rao’s biographical drama, Omertà. This Hansal Mehta directorial tells the real story of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. The film will premiere on ZEE5 on July 25.
