On Tuesday morning, the makers of Janhvi Kapoor's Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl announced its direct-to-web release. The biographical film based on the life of the first Indian female airforce pilot in combat Gunjan Saxena has garnered the right amount of attention. The team behind this Sharan Sharma directorial debut, along with the announcement on Tuesday, shared a special teaser dedicated to Gunjan. The inspiring video touched the hearts of the viewers. Expressing her joy on watching the montage of pictures with Janhvi's voiceover, Gunjan, on her Instagram account, penned a heartfelt note for the actress and Sharan.
"Very rarely have old memories flashed in front of me in such a sweet manner as was experienced after watching my montage with voice over of Janhvi. I guess it is the time for culmination of an enriching journey which started with Sharan Sharma three years back. And what a journey it has been with Sharan. I have always admired his honesty, sincerity and a sensitive compassion while portraying my life on big screen. Everybody at my age has a story to tell. Lucky few like me have Sharan and Janhvi to narrate my story. None of life journeys are a walk in park and mine was no different. But at times a one track mind on goal does help. During my tenure in IAF, whatever little I could achieve was with the help of men and women in blue uniform. I sincerely hope everyone will enjoy the movie not because it is my story but more so because of the honest work of Sharan and his team," Gunjan wrote while sharing a picture with Janhvi.
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is produced by Karan Johar under his Dharma Productions. The film apart from Janhvi, features Angad Bedi, Pankaj Tripathi, Viineet Kumar and Manav Vij. The first look of the biopic was released on August 29 last year. It was primarily scheduled to hit the screen on March 13 but got pushed to April 24. The fresh release date is yet to be announced. It marks Janhvi's second film post Dhadak in 2018.
