Pankaj Tripathi to take lead in Netflix's Sacred Games second season

Netflix's first Indian original web series Sacred Games was nothing but an instant success. In no time, the makers were showered with love and appreciation from audiences and critics alike. Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwani who have directed the series are already in talks for the second season.

After 8 episodes, the second season will pick up where the first left. The next season will revolve around Ganesh Gaitonde's (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) "third father" a.k.a Guru Ji (Pankaj Tripathi), who was barely seen in the first season but his impact remains unparalleled on the story and on the audiences. The crime lord prevailing in Mumbai in the present times, Gaitonde credits his success to Guruji whom he refers to as his third father- the man behind making him what he is and also betraying him.

Our best guess, just like all the fans, is that the second season will explore the relationship between the two crime lords, Gaitonde's journey from to mafia-lord and the "betrayal" that he talks about. In the first season, Gaitonde gives Saif Ali Khan (Sartaj Singh) a leverage of twenty-five days to save his city. Out of which a week has passed in the previous eight episodes. The following fourteen days, supposedly, will be divided into seven days and two seasons.

A leading daily's source mentioned, “The makers have already planned a second season, the shooting of which will start in November in Mumbai. Pankaj, who appears as Guruji, only in three scenes apart from his voiceover in the first season, will have a central role in the second season alongside Nawazuddin as he is the real mastermind.”

Sacred Games is based on Vikram Chandra's novel titled by the same name. After the tremendous hit of season one, we are excitedly waiting for season two.
