Ekta Kapoor’s ALT Balaji First Anniversary: 6 shows that are a must watch

Digital revolution has taken the country by storm what with most people consuming entertainment on their mobile phones instead of watching it on TV. So it only made sense when the czarina of TV, Ekta Kapoor decided to foray into the digital world too. Last year, on April 16, 2017, she launched ALT Balaji, a subsidiary of Balaji Telefilms Limited, as the group’s foray into the digital world and today the company is happily celebrating their first anniversary with path-breaking and interesting line up of shows.

ALT Balaji has over 18+ original shows in multiple languages and is giving a new definition to the word entertainment. Unlike the shows that Balaji Telefilms airs on TV the shows on ALT Balaji are different in their storyline, treatment and perspective and treatment, keeping the web audience in mind. So here are a handful of shows that we’ve shortlisted for you which you certainly cannot afford to miss.

Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat

Sakshi Tanwar and Ram Kapoor gave a hit serial in the form of Bade Acche Lagte Hain but if you’re thinking that Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat will be similar to the teleserial then you’re highly mistaken. The two ace actors were in completely different avatars but what remained was their amazing chemistry.

Till date, this is the only original show from ALT Balaji to have a second season.

Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain

Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain stars Ronit Roy, Mona Singh and Gurdeep Kohli. The idea of an extra-marital affair is nothing new but the series showed the subtle relationships in such a way that it never seemed repetitive. The series follows a man who has it all a caring wife and two loving daughters but is in love with another woman who is his true love.

Galti Se Mis-Tech

Anita Hassanandani and Rithvik Dhanjani star in this hilarious show which showcases the life of a Generation Y couple. Their life revolves around their smartphones and the only problem that they face is the technical glitches that turn their lovable bond into complete bonkers.

Bose: Dead/Alive

Rajkummar Rao stars in this exhilarating and exciting biopic on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The show is one of those shows that eventually attain cult status and this one is definitely on that path. Rao is brilliant and so are the direction and the execution of the show. Definitely, a must watch.

Haq Se

Haq Se stars some of the most popular names like Rajeev Khandelwal, Surveen Chawla, Simone Singh among others. Inspired by Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women, the show follows the lives of four sisters who must brave it all to see their dreams come true.

THE TEST CASE

The Lunchbox fame actress Nimrat Kaur plays the first woman officer ever to enrol in the army’s Special Forces unit. The show sports a stellar supporting cast with Anup Soni and Atul Kulkarni. The show is about any woman’s struggle in a male-dominated workplace and Captain Shikha Sharma’s journey traces most aspects of that life.
